August 2017 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Because of you, we were able to save these two loving dogs, in addition to 170 more. We’ll continue to save lives in Houston and make a difference in the community, all because of you.
July 2017 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
In July, Houston Pets Alive launched a new bottle baby program! This program will target newborn orphaned kittens that are turned into the shelter and fated for EU.
June 2017 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive has launched a new community cat program with Best Friends and the Harris County Animal Shelter that will greatly reduce the number of cats entering the shelter and getting euthanized.
May 2017 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Benny is a cat in foster care with Houston Pets Alive. He was rescued from a high kill shelter where he was on the list to be euthanized.
April 2017 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive was excited to join Fort Bend Pets Alive and Bay Area Turning Point for Great Day Houston! We were so excited to show off our loving dogs who are available for adoption.
March 2017 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Join us on Thursday, April 13th at 7PM for a movie night showing The Secret Life of Pets at West Alabama Ice House! Admission is FREE and 10% of all proceeds will be donated to Houston Pets Alive.
February 2017 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
We are so excited to announce that our first annual Putts for Paws charity golf tournament was a major success! We raised over $10,000 for homeless pets, had 60 participants and had a lot of interest in pet adoptions.
January 2017 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive is so excited to be celebrating our second anniversary! In the last two years, Houston Pets Alive has saved over 700 animals from euthanasia at the shelter and we couldn’t have done it without you!

December 5, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive! is hosting its first annual golf tournament, Putts for Paws, on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Hermann Park Golf Course. Come play golf and help raise money for Houston’s homeless pets.
November 15, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Coco is a 4-month old puppy who was scheduled to be euthanized at the county shelter. We couldn’t let this happen. We saved Coco, only to find out that she has a life threatening heart defect and desperately needs open heart surgery to save her life.

September 6, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Kona is one of the sweetest dogs saved by HPA. Today she went in for her spay, but it ended in extensive complications from an unknown preexisting condition. She was transferred to an emergency vet and is under the best care possible.
August 17, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive! was excited to host a Painting with a Twist night on Monday. Those who singed up painted amazing art and had a great time making friends. Thank you to everybody who came and helped raise over $300 for Houston Pets Alive!
August 4, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive! was very excited to be at the Houston World Series of Dog Shows in July. Astros pitcher Lance McCullers came by on Saturday and hung out with some adorable dogs, met some fans, and helped raise money for homeless animals. HPA pup Timmy even found his forever home at the Dog Show!
July 22, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
New Adoption Location – We are very excited to announce that we’ll be starting a second adoption location starting in August. We’ll be hosting Sunday adoption events at the PetSmart at Bunker Hill to help even more pets find their forever homes! We can’t wait to see you there.
July 5, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive saved Rufus and Belle from the shelter in July 2015. These two amazing cats waited almost a YEAR for a forever home who would adopt these best friends together. Finally, their fairy godmother came along and brought them to their forever home. Congratulations Rufus and Belle!
June 17, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Ruger and Sarge were adopted from HPA as 4 month old puppies. Recently, a good Samaritan found them wandering the streets and after contacting their owner, it was decided it’d be best for them to be returned to HPA’s custody to look for a new home.

We are so excited that our very own Chloe was featured in BarkPost and BarkBox! Chloe amazingly adopted two kittens in addition to her 5 pups. Read her amazing article here
MAY 17, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Somebody left two newborn kittens at our Cattery in a box. We didn’t have any nursing mama cats who could feed these babies but lucky for us Chloe, a HPA nursing mama dog, stepped in to save the day!
MAY 3, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive! has partnered with the University of Houston- Downtown Animal Rescue Club to create the first Houston Animal Welfare Conference. This is a day of interactive lectures all about how to create no kill in Houston, led by experts in their field. Whether you’re a shelter director or employee, a volunteer, foster or community advocate, you’ll go home with the tools and knowledge to make immediate change.
APRIL 20, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Houston Pets Alive! was honored to receive a $2,500 grant from the Houston Texans through the #TexansCare Instagram competition! Texans Cheerleaders even showed up at our adoption event and made some new furry friends.
APRIL 1, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
Our Wooftrax fundraiser is well underway and we are entering the third week of our fundraiser. We almost have two full bags of shoes, which is a wonderful start! We are so thankful to each of you who have donated shoes or helped with shoe collections. Our goal is to collect 100 total bags of shoes, and we only have until May 15 to do it. Together, we can make this happen and we can earn $1000 for Houston Pets Alive.Donate your shoes at our adoption event tomorrow!

MARCH 2, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
All of the volunteers at Houston Pets Alive put our heart and soul into finding animals homes and here is the perfect story! These 3 puppies are just a few of the animals who were looking for homes. We are very pleased to announce that they were adopted by an Astros Professional Baseball Player, a NOLA firefighter, and a wonderful family! #Perfect
FEBRUARY 16, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
This weekend, Houston Pets Alive! teamed up with Astros Pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. and his wife Kara for “Mutts, Meows & McCullers”! Together with this incredible couple, we were able to adopt out several animals, raise thousands of dollars, and support homeless pets! Thank you everybody who came for your amazing support.

FEBRUARY 1, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
It’s raining puppies! In the last few weeks, Houston Pets Alive has saved so many puppies. Together with another rescue, we were able to save 10 puppies and their mom from euthanasia. We even pulled a few other pups in addition.
We’d love to thank these puppies’ fosters for saving their lives!
JANUARY 16, 2016 – What’s New With Houston Pets Alive!
In Houston Pets Alive’s first year in action, we saved 349 dogs and cats! We are so proud of everything accomplished and couldn’t thank our volunteers, adopters, fosters, and donors enough. Without you, these lives wouldn’t have been saved. Thank you to everybody who attended our one year anniversary celebration!
